The Order of the Scarlet Cord

The Order of the Scarlet Cord is currently the fastest-growing masonic order in England and Wales. It is important to acknowledge the order here as the criteria for admission to the order is being a Prince of the Oder of the Secret Monitor.

The origins of this degree can be traced back to Amsterdam in the 18th century. An earlier version of the current order came the United Kingdom in 1889 and went by the name of the Royal Order of the Knights of the Scarlet Cord. The degrees were appendant degrees to the Order of the Secret Monitor, hence the connection. However this version of the order ceased in 1929. Revival began in 2001, again through connection to the Order of the Secret Monitor but it became an distinct order in its own right in 2010.

The order consists of six degrees. Progressing through these degrees the candidate will learn about Joshua and the city of Jericho, they will meet a character referenced in the first degree of craft Freemasonry and they will make further links in the stories of craft and Holy Royal Arch Freemasonry.

It is an exciting and popular order that members of the Order of the Secret Monitor should consider.

We are fortunate in having the Deputy Grand Summus, Right Distinguished Companion Frances Spencer as an active member of the Order of the Secret Monitor and the Order of the Scarlet Cord in Worcestershire.
